On Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at 7:00 p.m., the Battle Creek City Commission will hold a public hearing in the City Commission Chambers on the 3rd Floor of City Hall to receive comments regarding applications developed by Battle Creek Transit and area human service agencies and non-profit organizations for FY 2017 State funding to support their transportation programs for senior citizens and persons with disabilities. The proposed applications are on file at Battle Creek Transit, 339 West Michigan Avenue, Battle Creek 49037, and may be reviewed during a 30-day period, July 7, 2016 through August 5, 2016, between the hours of 8:00am to noon – 1:00pm to 5:00pm. Written comments regarding the applications must be addressed to Richard Werner, Transit Manager, at the address shown above and received no later than August 9, 2016. Written comments may also be emailed to The City of Battle Creek will provide necessary reasonable auxiliary aids and services, such as signers for the hearing impaired and audio tapes of printed materials being considered in the meeting upon notice to the City of Battle Creek. ​ City of Battle Creek/Battle Creek Transit Proposed Applications for State of Michigan Financial Assistance All citizens are advised that the City of Battle Creek/Battle Creek Transit has prepared applications for State of Michigan financial assistance for FY 2017 (October 1, 2016 – September 30, 2017) as required under Act 51 of the Public Acts of 1951, as amended, for Federal assistance as required under the Federal Transit Act, as amended. The City of Battle Creek/Battle Creek Transit is requesting the following funds:



​ In accordance with the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act of 2015, Battle Creek Transit hereby gives notice of its intention to apply for financial assistance from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA).

​ Battle Creek Transit is requesting a total of $4,075,906 through the following funding sources:

Battle Creek Transit encourages and welcomes any comments or questions from area residents regarding the proposed use of Federal funds to support these projects. Effective July 7, 2016, a thirty (30) day comment period will be provided to receive any oral or written comments pertaining to these projects. If sufficient interest is indicated, a public hearing may be scheduled to receive additional input on these projects. If no significant comments are received during the thirty (30) day period that would change the scope of these projects, the draft program of projects will automatically become the final program of projects that will be considered by the Federal Transit Administration.
