Gang Suppression Unit (GSU)

About

The Gang Suppression Unit (GSU) was formed in March of 2007. As part of the Investigative Division, GSU is often called upon to assist with other investigations such as homicides, drug crimes and assist the Patrol Division when needed.

The primary objective of GSU is to reduce the amount of gang related violent crime through partnerships with the community and other law enforcement entities.

GSU is comprised of several officers and a sergeant who investigate gang related crimes. GSU uses a wide range of investigative and diversion tools. They collaborate with Federal, State and local law enforcement as well as community partners, to help dismantle the gangs in Battle Creek.

GSU’s success is rooted in their ability to build relationships, be fair, and to care about the community they serve.
