MDOT public open house for I-194 study
Thursday, November 30, 2023
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) invites the public to provide input on a planning and environmental linkages (PEL) study for I-194 in Calhoun County. Through this comprehensive study, MDOT will evaluate environmental and traffic safety issues, and possible improvements for future construction.
Attendees who require mobility, visual, hearing, written or other assistance for effective participation should contact Orlando Curry at 517-241-7462 or CurryO@Michigan.gov, preferably at least five business days prior to the scheduled meeting. Forms are located on the Title VI webpage. Requests made after this timeframe will be evaluated and honored to the extent possible.
The PEL study will focus on the I-194 corridor from the north side of the I-94/I-194 interchange to Fountain Street in Battle Creek. The study is evaluating options, including the benefits and impacts of rebuilding the corridor as a boulevard. I-194 plays a significant role in Calhoun County by providing regional connections to I-94 and downtown Battle Creek. The PEL study is a collaborative process that considers environmental, community, and economic goals in transportation planning.
Public and stakeholder input is sought throughout the study. Share your comments and input using the online comment form. Comments can also be submitted by mail, phone, and e-mail to:
