Other information: The Battle Creek Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 319 N. Washington Ave. Engine 2 and Squad 2 arrived within 3 minutes to find smoke showing throughout the first floor, unknown if occupied. A hoseline was stretched to extinguish the fire in the kitchen. All occupants were safely out of the structure. The smoke was ventilated from the structure and walls opened in the kitchen to ensure all the fire was extinguished. The fire was caused by a faulty refrigerator and contained to the kitchen. Additional crews on scene were; Rescue 3, Rescue 4, Engine 5, Truck 6, Squad 6 and Car 3. No injuries were reported.
