Other information: Battle Creek Fire Department was dispatched approximately 3:50pm to a structure fire at the vacant Southwestern Junior High. Engine 2 and Rescue 4 arrived to find smoke showing from the first floor library. A quick offensive attack and established water supply brought the fire under control. Car 3 assumed command while Rescue 3 and Truck 6 performed a secondary attack. Engine 5 and Squad 6 ensured scene safety and ventilation. The cause of the fire is being investigated by BCFD Fire Marshal. Two persons of interest have been detained by the Battle Creek Police Department relative to this investigation.
