Update 10/26/2022 -
Police have identified the 36-year-old man who died as William Michael Wilson, known as Mike. He was shot multiple times at close range.
The investigation so far shows that Wilson was targeted, and the intent was to rob him.
The investigation so far also shows that there is no evidence to connect Wilson's murder to a 2012 incident in which Wilson was charged with murder. Police already have looked into potential connections, and found none.
Police have arrested a person of interest in this current case. They plan to submit a murder warrant request to the Calhoun County Prosecutor's Office in the coming days.

Battle Creek Police are investigating a murder, after apparent gunshots in the area of Warren Street, which is near Oak Hill Cemetery.
At about 1:20 a.m. today, neighbors in the area who heard gunshots called 911. Police responded to the call, and found a 36-year-old man lying in the yard of a home.
It was apparent the man had multiple gunshot wounds. Officers attempted to give him medical help before LifeCare Ambulance arrived. They took the man to Bronson Battle Creek Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police do not believe this is connected to any other recent incident.
