[ARCHIVED] Section of Capital SW closed next week

Railroad crossing quad gate

Capital Avenue SW – between Dickman Road and Hamblin Avenue – will be completely closed to thru traffic starting at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1.

CN Railway will install conduit at the railroad crossing to accommodate the future installation of quad safety gates. This is part of the safety improvement work at the downtown-area railroad crossings that will be part of the city’s quiet zone, the area through which trains no longer will sound routine horns as they approach public crossings.

The closure is expected to last three days, weather permitting. A detour will be in place.

The driveways to the Intermodal Transportation Center and Kellogg Institute will be accessible, as will the GPI loading docks.

We appreciate everyone’s patience during this and all work.
