Water main project continues on 29th, moves to Taft, Kingman streets

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. - The next phase of this year’s water main replacement project begins tomorrow, Aug. 11, on the following streets:

  • Taft St. - Newark Ave. to the city limits (south of West Kingman Avenue)
  • West Kingman - Main Street to Taft

These roads will be closed to thru traffic; crews will maintain local access. Work hours will be kept as close to 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. as possible.

Work will start with pavement removal, followed by underground work. To minimize inconvenience, similar work on New England, Walnut, and Massachusetts avenues will begin once the underground work is finished on Taft and Kingman.

On Monday, Aug. 14, repaving of North 29th Street from Highland to Territorial will begin. Residents are being asked not to park on the street during this time.

Neighbors on all of these streets will receive door hanger work notifications.

The water main project aims to replace mains that have experienced problems with freezing and breaks. Street pavement, concrete, and curbing also will be replaced during this project.

Please be alert for workers in this area. We appreciate everyone’s patience.
