Battle Creek Transit has fewer Tele-Transit vans on the road, due to a coach operator shortage – but the change is temporary.
The service already is down one van, and a second will stop most of its service as of Monday, Oct. 16. Transit has been working through a shortage of coach operators – the drivers for the fixed-route buses and appointment-based Tele-Transit vans.
Both vans are expected back in full service after Thanksgiving. This will give Transit time to train several drivers recently hired.

Tele-Transit service hours remain the same – 5:15 a.m. to midnight Monday through Friday, and 9:15 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. A one-way fare is $7, reduced to $5 after 6:45 p.m., and $2 for seniors and those with disabilities (with Transit ID card).
ADA-certified passengers will receive the same level of Tele-Transit service. The fixed-route bus lines are not affected.
