Absentee ballot applications available for Nov. 6

Clerk's Office

Absentee ballot applications are now available for the Nov. 6 general election.

The application, and more information, is available online at the city’s website, www.battlecreekmi.gov/elections, or in the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall, Room 111, Battle Creek, MI 49014.

All absentee ballot applications are due by 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3, to the City Clerk’s Office. The Clerk’s Office will be open that day, Saturday, Nov. 3, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., specifically for those who wish to receive an absentee ballot for Nov. 6.

At this time, absentee voter ballots are available only for the six reasons listed on the application:

  • Voter is 60 years of age or older.
  • Voter will be absent from the community in which registered for the entire time the polls are open on election day.
  • Voter is physically unable to attend the polls without the assistance of another.
  • Voter cannot attend the polls because of the tenets of his/her religion.
  • Voter has been appointed to be an election precinct inspector in a precinct other than the one in which he/she resides.
  • Voter cannot attend the polls because he/she is confined to jail awaiting arraignment or trial.

Absentee ballots will become available at the end of September. The Clerk’s Office will mail many of those, and absentee ballots also will be available in person, at City Hall.
