  1. Yard waste curbside pickup

March 26, 2018 - November 30, 2018 @ At the curbside within city limits only.

Leaves, downed branches and other yard waste should be placed in specially marked containers and/or paper yard waste bags. The bags are available at most area grocery and hardware stores. Approved containers may be up to 32 gallons in size and should be clearly marked “yard waste only.” Each bag or container may not weigh more than 50 pounds. Extra “yard waste only” stickers for marking containers are available in the Utility Billing office on the first floor of City Hall, 10 N. Division St. Residents also have the option of renting a 96-gallon cart for yard waste collection from Waste Management. These can be used for trash during the winter months, December to March. Call 866-797-0918 for options and pricing. Other options for addressing yard waste are mowing the lawn and leaving the grass to create natural mulch, or hauling yard waste to Brice Pit, the city’s compost site, at 715 W. River Road.

  3. City Trunk or Treat

October 31, 2018, 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM @ Parking lot south of Battle Creek Central High School

This event is free and open to the public. Because demolition activities continue at the old police building site, join us in the parking lot across from Battle Creek Central High School, at West Van Buren Street and McCamly Street. Attendees also can park in this lot. Attendance has exceeded expectations every year, so for this year’s event the BCPD still is seeking donations to purchase candy. Financial donations may be sent to the Battle Creek Police Department Law Enforcement Community Project Fund, a fund of the Battle Creek Community Foundation. Please make checks payable to BCCF/PDLAW and mail to Battle Creek Community Foundation, 32 W. Michigan Ave., Suite 1, Battle Creek, MI 49017. Those interested also can donate on the Communication Foundation’s website, www.bccfoundation.org/giving/BCPD-Law. Thank you! We appreciate everyone who helps with this great family event!
