Battle Creek Police are investigating the death of 43-year-old Christopher Dykstra of Battle Creek.
Officers responded to the 300 block of Main Street around 12:30 a.m. today, where Dykstra was lying in a driveway. He appeared to have a single stab wound to his chest, and was pronounced dead at the scene. A knife was located nearby.
Police interviewed an 18-year-old man who was near the scene, and believed to be involved. The preliminary investigation showed the man may have acted in self-defense, resulting in Dykstra’s death.
Police continue to investigate, and await autopsy results. As is standard procedure, the Calhoun County Prosecutor’s Office will review the case.
Police will not identify the 18-year-old at this time, and have no additional information to release.
