[ARCHIVED] Precincts 11, 14 combine, move to new voting location

Two city precincts have consolidated and moved to a new voting location, beginning with the upcoming city election on Nov. 7.

Precincts 11 and 14, previously at Christ Community Church on Capital Avenue SW, now will be located at First Wesleyan Church, 14425 S. Helmer Road as one precinct – Precinct 11. Precincts 5 and 20 already are located at First Wes.

City officials thank and appreciate First Wesleyan Church for agreeing to host Precinct 11.

All affected registered voters have been notified and sent new voter identification cards.

Christ Community Church was no longer able to accommodate the polling location, prompting the move. Officials were unable to find a new polling location within the affected precinct in this situation, and election law allows a polling location to be moved to an adjacent precinct.

Last year, several polling locations were moved from schools to churches to alleviate concerns with student safety and traffic congestion at the school locations.
