Battle Creek Fire staff will participate in a joint training session Saturday covering roadway safety for emergency responders.
Six Battle Creek personnel will attend. The Calhoun and Kalamazoo County Training Council will host the joint training venture, presented by Jack Sullivan of the Emergency Responder Safety Institute, based in Richmond, Va. Sullivan is a leading expert in roadway responder safety, and helped develop Traffic Incident Management courses.
It is anticipated that approximately 60 first responders from both counties will participate.
Responders will learn ways to make their response to roadway incidents safer, both for themselves and for people involved in the incidents. While the BCFD has participated in this type of training before, this will be the first time doing so with a national expert.
Eaton Corp. will host the training in Galesburg, 13100 E. Michigan Ave., right off I-94 exit 88.
