[ARCHIVED] Section of Union Street closed due to flooding

ANYbodies flooding

A section of Union Street, north of Ivanhoe, is now closed due to water flooding over the road.

Crews have blocked the section, re-routing traffic using Shepard, Pine, and Hoag Streets to safely loop traffic around the water.

In this situation, water from the nearby Battle Creek River is backing up a storm sewer and flooding over the road. Crews have checked the storm sewer, and it is clear. They will continue to monitor the situation.

Please be alert for flooding over streets and, especially, sections of the Linear Park path. ANYbodies Playground at Bailey Park also is closed.

Please be especially alert if you travel to locations outside the city; Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids, and Lansing are seeing more significant challenges due to river flooding. Do not drive over roads completely covered in water.
