The City of Battle Creek is excited to present its 2018 story – an online, interactive presentation of the top projects accomplished last year.
Staff used esri software to create a story map – a multi-media presentation using text, photos, interactive maps, links, and more – to tell the city’s story. It is a way to give an annual report in an interesting way, and we hope to continue sharing information this way each year; 2018 is our second year using the story map format.
Sometimes pages-long reports are necessary, but we hope this format offers a fun, easy way to learn more about city services, programs, and projects, both completed and in progress. Neighbors will see that the city completed projects to make our processes more efficient, hosted hundreds of kids during our annual summer camp, used technology to make information easier to access, and shared a piece of Battle Creek with New York City in the form of a green roof.
Staff from across the city compiled information on the projects we believe had the greatest impact in 2018. Geographic Information Systems and Communications team members placed everything into the online software, creating maps, linking extra photos, and linking documents to support the limited text information.
