[ARCHIVED] City offices closed for Labor Day; some closed for city picnic

Labor Day closure graphic

Next week, all city administrative offices will be closed for Labor Day, and some offices will be closed for the annual city team picnic.

All offices will be closed on Monday, Sept. 2, in observance of Labor Day. Battle Creek Transit bus and van services will not run on Labor Day, resuming regular weekday schedules on Tuesday, Sept. 3. Waste Management – the city’s trash, recycling, and yard waste hauler – also is closed on Monday. This will result in a one-day service delay the rest of the week.

On Thursday, Sept. 5, the following facilities/departments will close from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. to allow city teammates to enjoy our annual picnic together:

City Hall
Department of Public Works
Transit (offices only; buses will run)
Records Division at the Police Department

The city team encourages everyone to enjoy the final weekend of Flash Flood Water Park for this season – the outdoor/indoor pools and attractions will be open noon-6 p.m. Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, Aug. 31 to Sept. 2, with buy one admission, get one half-off admission, and discounted concessions.

The Recreation Department offices, Full Blast facility, fitness center, and walking track are closed today through Monday, Aug. 30 to Sept. 2, for annual maintenance and gym floor resurfacing. Summer facility hours continue starting Sept. 3 – 6:30 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday.

Recreation facility fall/winter hours begin on Monday, Sept. 30 – 6:30 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Please plan your city business accordingly around these closures. Best wishes for a great academic year to everyone involved in going back to school!
