[ARCHIVED] Behnke chosen as mayor, Sofia as vice mayor for 2019-20

Commission 082118 small

Mark Behnke will serve as mayor for the City of Battle Creek for the coming year, and Sherry Sofia as vice mayor.

The two will serve their second one-year terms in a row, after the City Commission chose them with a unanimous, 8-0 vote during its annual organization meeting tonight (Commissioner Kate Flores was absent).

The upcoming commission meeting schedule also was approved, and will remain the same, with meetings at 7 p.m. every first and third Tuesday of the month at City Hall, 10 N. Division St.

Four exceptions are the April 14 meeting, a change due to spring break; Aug. 11, due to the state primary election; Nov. 10, due to the presidential general election; and Nov. 24 for the organizational meeting, to be held after the election Board of Canvassers.
