BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — City crews will complete tree trimming along several streets in the Westlake/Prarieview neighborhoods in the city, beginning Wednesday, June 14, in preparation for chip-seal work in this same area later this summer.
This selective tree trimming work will help to raise the tree canopy along the streets set to undergo chip-seal work, which helps to avoid any damage by equipment to the trees in the area. An added benefit is that tree trimming allows more sunlight to reach the streets, helping to prolong the life of the road surface.
The following specific streets will undergo tree trimming work:
- 28th Street, from Goguac Street West to West Columbia Avenue
- 29th Street, from Goguac Street West to West Columbia Avenue
- 30th Street, from Goguac Street West to West Columbia Avenue
- 31st Street, from Goguac Street West to West Columbia Avenue
- North 32nd Street, from Goguac Street West to West Territorial Road
- North 33rd Street, from Goguac Street West to West Highland Boulevard
Crews expect the tree trimming work to be completed in 28 working days, by July 25, weather permitting. Work hours will generally be from 7 a.m.-2 p.m.
There are no expected road closures because of this tree trimming work, however neighbors are encouraged to be aware of crews and equipment in the area.
We appreciate everyone’s patience during all work on our city’s infrastructure.
