[ARCHIVED] Weed treatments planned around Goguac Lake Monday, Aug. 7

Lake beach on a sunny day.

On Monday, Aug. 7, Goguac Lake will receive a chemical weed treatment, coordinated by the city and the state Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy.

The team applying the treatments will post signs in the treated areas of the lake, asking neighbors and visitors to stay off the water in those areas for 24 hours. This is so the treatments have time to reach the intended weed species in the water, and work effectively.

If a person does go into the lake while the treatment signs are posted, we recommend showering after leaving the lake. The treatments are tested, and determined to be safe for this use in the lake.

You can open a lake map that will show the treatments planned for Monday near these areas: Honey Lane and Waupakisco Beach, Wa Wee Nork and Lakefront drives, Menno Place and Lakefront Drive, Hiawatha Drive, Capital Avenue SW and George B Place, Breezy Bluff Street, Country Club Drive, Lynwood Drive/Lynwood Lane, the private road near Vince Island, Lakeshore Drive and Orchard Lane, Sherman Drive, Woodrow Avenue South and Peets Cove.
