BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — SEMCO Energy Gas Company crews will be onsite to perform maintenance on gas valves located at the intersection of Beckley Road/B Drive North and 6 Mile Road, resulting in temporary traffic changes beginning the evening of Friday, Sept. 8.
The intersection of Beckley Road/B Drive North and 6 Mile Road will remain open to traffic, with the following temporary traffic changes in place during this project:
- Beckley Road/B Drive: On Beckley Road, drivers can go straight through the intersection, or turn right onto 6 Mile Road, from either direction. Drivers CANNOT turn left onto 6 Mile, from either direction on Beckley.
- 6 Mile Road: On 6 Mile Road, drivers can turn right onto Beckley Road, from either direction. Drivers CANNOT go straight through the intersection, or turn left onto Beckley, from either direction on 6 Mile.
While there are no complete road closures, there will be both lane shifts and traffic control devices in place to coordinate the temporary traffic changes during work hours. Pedestrians in the area should also be aware of ongoing work, as their routes might also be temporarily affected due to the proximity of the work.
Battle Creek Transit services will not be affected by these temporary traffic changes.
Crews anticipate this gas valve maintenance work and the temporary traffic changes to begin by 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8, and be completed by noon Saturday, Sept. 9.
