[ARCHIVED] Police seek information on W. Rittenhouse shots fired

Battle Creek Police Department patch

Battle Creek Police are looking for information to help with their investigation of a shots fired complaint early Sunday on West Rittenhouse Avenue.

Police responded at 2:03 a.m. Sunday to the 100 block of West Rittenhouse for a complaint of shots being fired. Calhoun County Dispatch received multiple calls from this area about shots being fired.

Shortly after officers arrived at the scene, they talked to several people behind a home, who said someone had just shot at the home. Those people could not provide any information to help officers.

After searching around the home, officers found several shell casings on the sidewalk in front of the house. They found that the house was struck, but that it wasn’t the intended target. No one inside the home was struck, and no other injuries were reported.

Police do not believe the community is in further danger from this situation, and they continue to investigate.

If you were in this area during the time this was happening and think you have information that could help police, please call 269-781-0911, or call anonymously through Silent Observer at 269-964-3888.
