A 22-year-old woman is in jail and charges are pending against a 24-year-old man after a physical fight and a gunshot to the man’s foot.
Battle Creek Police responded at 11:23 a.m. today to the 100 block of Magnolia Avenue for a report of people hearing gunshots in the area. Dispatchers told police a man with a gunshot wound was already being taken to Bronson Battle Creek Hospital by personal car.
Police were able to speak to both the man and woman at the hospital.
Police determined that the man and woman had been in a physical fight on Magnolia. During the fight, the man’s gun came loose from his waistband, and fired as he tried to secure it again. The gunshot hit his foot. The man and woman then separated, but met up again and the woman took him to the hospital for treatment.
The woman is in the Calhoun County Jail for domestic assault. Charges are pending against the man for gun registration violations.
