BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — City crews will complete four tree removal projects throughout the city over the next week, resulting in lane shifts during the projects, beginning today, Wednesday, Dec. 13.
The first project will involve the removal of a tree at McCamly Park Wednesday, Dec. 13, and will result in a lane shift along West Van Buren Street at its intersection with North Washington Avenue. Specifically:
- Eastbound West Van Buren Street traffic will use the turn lane to continue eastbound
- Westbound West Van Buren Street traffic will use the northern most lane to continue westbound
Crews expect the tree removal work to begin by 8:30 a.m. and be wrapped up by 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13.
The second tree removal project will involve the removal of three trees at the intersection of North Avenue/6 Mile Road and Frelinghuysen Avenue Wednesday, Dec. 13, and will result in the following lane shift:
- Traffic in the curb lane of North Avenue/6 Mile Road will be shifted to the center lane
Crews anticipate the tree removal work to start by noon and be completed by 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13.

A tree will be removed, during the third tree removal project, along East Emmett Street, between Harvard Street and Fremont Street, to improve the vision of the traffic light at the intersection of Emmett and Fremont, Thursday, Dec. 14. This work will result in the following lane shift:
- Eastbound East Emmett Street traffic will be shifted between Harvard Street and Fremont Street
Crews expect the tree removal work to begin by 7 a.m. and be wrapped up by 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 14.

The fourth project will involve the removal of a tree along West Minges Road, between Hickory Lane and Wealthy Avenue, Tuesday, Dec. 19, through Thursday, Dec. 21, resulting in the following lane shift:
- The eastbound lane of West Minges Road will have a controlled lane shift with flaggers to help direct traffic
Crews anticipate the tree removal work to start by 7 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, and be completed by 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, with work hours generally from 7 a.m.-2 p.m. each day.

There are no expected complete road closures during these four tree removal projects.
