Other information: The Battle Creek Fire Department was dispatched to a kitchen fire at 75 N. Cedar Ave. Engine 5 arrived to find smoke showing from the residence. Engine 5 quickly extinguished a fire in the kitchen and searched the residence to ensure all occupants were out. Rescue 2 assisted with ventilation. Car 3 assumed command.

Due to the quick actions of the fire department, damage was contained to the area around the stove. Unattended cooking was the cause of the fire. The occupants were not home at the time of the fire.  No injuries were reported.
