[ARCHIVED] Police investigate shooting on northeast side of the city

A 30-year-old man was injured Thursday in an apparent shooting in the northeast area of the city.

At about 1 a.m. yesterday – Thursday, March 7 – Battle Creek Police received a dispatch report of a shooting victim in the first block of North Union Street. When officers arrived, they found a 30-year-old man who was shot by his right ankle.

LifeCare Ambulance responded. The man was taken to Bronson Battle Creek Hospital, and he received treatment for the non-life-threatening injury.

Police found gunshot casings at the scene, and believe the suspect left the area in a black truck or Dodge Durango SUV. Police believe this was a targeted event, and that the public is in no further danger.
