BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — City contractor crews are nearing the completion of the project to rebuild the retaining wall around the grounds of City Hall and will put a temporary lane shift in place on Division Street again, beginning Monday, April 1.
The specific section of Division Street affected by this temporary lane shift is:
- Right, northbound lane of Division Street North, from Hamblin Avenue to just south of the Battle Creek Police Department
Northbound traffic on Division Street will be rerouted to the left, northbound lane, beginning at Hamblin Avenue and ending just south of the Battle Creek Police Department.

This temporary lane shift will allow crews to place the retaining wall stones on the west side of City Hall (facing Division Street) and to repour the sidewalk, as well. There are no expected complete road closures during this work.
Crews will begin this work, and put the temporary lane shift on Division Street in place, Monday, April 1. Work is expected to be completed by no later than Friday, May 3, with the temporary lane shift on Division Street being removed once work is completed, as well.
We appreciate everyone’s patience during all work on our city’s infrastructure.
