[ARCHIVED] Most city buildings close for two hours this Thursday, May 9

The City of Battle Creek will hold our annual appreciation picnic for employees this week on Thursday, May 9.

This means most city buildings – including City Hall – will be closed that day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. so that as many city team members as possible can attend and enjoy the picnic. Please note the following:

  • The Battle Creek Police Department lobby at 34 N. Division St. will be closed during this time.
  • Battle Creek Transit already stops services during a lunch hour of 11:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m. They will close their lobby at 339 W. Michigan Ave. during that hour so all Transit staff can attend the picnic.
  • Full Blast Recreation Center will remain open during this time.

The city’s 24/7 and some other services – like Water, Fire, Police, and Transit (outside of the hour mentioned above) – will continue to operate during this time.

Please plan your city business around this closure. Many services are available on our website, battlecreekmi.gov.

City staff appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding so they can gather during these lunch hours. We celebrate city staff and all public employees this week as part of Public Service Recognition Week, May 5-11. Our talented staff work hard every day to provide great service to our Battle Creek community.
