The Battle Creek Police Department's Gang Suppression Unit (GSU) and Special Investigations Unit (SIU) continued their investigation into the shooting of a 23-year-old Battle Creek man, who sustained a gunshot wound to his left thigh, in the early morning hours of Tuesday, Aug. 13.
Through their efforts, probable cause was established to arrest the suspect, a Battle Creek man in his 20s, Wednesday, Aug. 14, shortly after 6 p.m.
The suspect has been taken into custody and is currently being held at the Calhoun County Jail on multiple felony charges, including weapon and assault offenses.

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Battle Creek Police are investigating a shooting that left one person injured in the early morning hours of Tuesday, Aug. 13.
Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Cliff Street and Nelson Street shortly after 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13. Upon their arrival, officers located a 23-year-old Battle Creek man with a gunshot wound to his left thigh. The victim reported that he was walking down Cliff Street when a red Chevrolet pulled up, and the driver shot him before fleeing south on Nelson Street.
The Battle Creek Fire Department’s Engine 3 provided on-site care before LifeCare ambulance transported the victim to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo, where he was downgraded to stable condition.
The BCPD is still investigating the case, but they believe it was an isolated incident and that the community is not in danger.
