More Information: Shortly before 3 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 29, the Battle Creek Fire Department was dispatched to a fire at 29 Bowen Ave. 

Rescue 2 arrived within two minutes to find fire and smoke coming from the second floor. Car 3 took command upon arrival.

Rescue 2 and Truck 1 were assigned fire attack and search on the second floor, while Engine 5 and Engine 3 handled the first floor. Engine 4 established the water supply, and Rescue 6 secured the utilities and checked the basement.

The fire department controlled the fire within 12 minutes. All occupants had exited the building before the fire department arrived, and no injuries were reported. The Fire Marshal and Fire Inspector are investigating the cause of the fire.

Thanks to the quick response, the fire was contained with minimal damage to the home. The Battle Creek Fire Department reminds residents to check their smoke alarms regularly.
