Winter water run ends for city water customers
BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — The winter water run has ended for customers who were notified of the chance of their water pipes freezing.
Recent Water Division work has indicated that the frost levels creating concerns for frozen water service lines has dropped to a point that it is safe to shut off the continuous running water in your home.
Customers whose water service line had a history of freezing were notified of the chance of their line freezing again. The city requested that these customers run water in a continuous manner to prevent freeze-ups as defined in a letter dated February 5, 2019.
The affected customers – approximately 200 – should have received a letter directing them to run water. The city’s Utility Billing office will begin calculating credits based on historic water use at these addresses. Only the addresses that were mailed a letter will be provided this credit. Water staff are mailing follow-up letters about canceling the water run.
Contact the Utility Billing team with specific bill questions, at 269-966-3366.
The Battle Creek Water Division team thanks everyone for their assistance in preventing damage to the water system, and minimizing frozen services and unnecessary street cuts and excavations.
