Other information: The Battle Creek Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire at the address noted above.  Arrived to find smoke showing from the second floor with the occupants safely outside.  Fire crews investigated further to find there was an active basement fire that had extended up to the second-floor walls.  Fire crews extended hand lines to extinguish the fire and opened up walls and ceiling to ensure the fire had not extended further.  There is extensive fire damage in the basement.  Crews were on scene for approximately three hours.  One firefighter was injured pulling ceiling and walls, however declined medical treatment.  Crews on scene were; Engine 2, Squad 2, Rescue 3, Rescue 4, Engine 5, Truck 6, Squad 6, Car 3 and Car 5.

The fire marshal is on scene investigating the cause.  The fire does not appear to be suspicious.
