Other information: The Battle Creek Fire Department was dispatched to a reported house fire, unknown if occupied, at 3:02am. Engine 2 arrived within six minutes to find the house heavily involved in fire. The fire had extended to a house on the east side as well as a vehicle in the driveway. Crews were advised that the occupant might be in the unattached garage at the rear of the house. Fire was knocked down on the east side to allow Rescue 4 to check for the occupant in the garage. The occupant was found uninjured behind a shed and was sent to LifeCare medics for further evaluation. Due to heavy fire conditions and reports of no other occupants in the structure, a defensive/exterior approach was utilized. Battle Creek Fire Department responded with three engines, two aerial apparatus, two squads and one chief officer for a total of 21 personnel. A fire crew is still on the scene overhauling for hot spots and attempting to determine cause.
