The City of Battle Creek is looking for this year’s junior high and high school student ambassadors to our Sister City – Takasaki, Japan.
This exciting and enriching opportunity is available to any student in the Battle Creek area. Local educators also can represent the city by chaperoning the 2016 student delegations. Two teacher chaperones will be chosen for this year’s program.
The high school ambassador exchange program includes a 10-day travel experience to Japan and a 10-day hosting experience in Battle Creek, for 20 days total. Battle Creek’s high school delegation will consist of four high school students and a teacher/chaperone.
The junior high ambassador exchange program offers the same opportunity for four junior high students and a teacher/chaperone. In addition, the junior high program offers Battle Creek families the chance to host Japanese students. In 2016, families will host 12 Takasaki students.
Both delegations will depart on July 28 and return on Aug. 8.
High school families will host Takasaki students Aug. 8 to 18 and junior high families will host Aug. 11 to 20.
Applications for the program are available on the city’s website, www.battlecreekmi.gov/takasaki and are due by 5 p.m. on Monday, April 18 to Room 206 at City Hall, 10 N. Division St. See the application packets online for more information or call Assistant Human Resources Manager Jennifer Rosa at 269-966-3377.
The student exchange program is a volunteer exchange sponsored and organized by the Battle Creek Area International Relations Committee.
