In an effort to maintain student safety, two more city polling locations are moving from a Lakeview school to an area church.
Precincts 2 and 3, previously at Territorial School (15 Arbor St.) now will be located at Battle Creek First Assembly, 800 S. 24th St. Four precincts now are located at First Assembly – 2, 3, 22 and 23.
Seven other precincts were moved last month from Lakeview schools to area churches. Both the schools and the city were concerned about student safety and traffic congestion at the school locations, so made the effort this year to move all precincts located in the schools.
New voter identification cards for residents in precincts 2 and 3 are expected to go out in the mail this week.
The change will be in effect for the next election, which is a special election for ballot proposals on Tuesday, May 3. Other 2016 elections are the state and local primary on Aug. 2 and the general election on Nov. 8.
