Other information: The Battle Creek Fire Department and Veterans Affairs Fire Department were dispatched to a water flow alarm at 151 McQuiston Drive. The VA Fire Department, Rescue 20, arrived to find smoke showing from the east side of the structure. The response was upgraded to a full Battle Creek structure fire response. Rescue 4, Engine 5, and Rescue 20 had initial fire attack and supplemented the fire suppression system. The fire suppression system contained laundry bins on fire near the center of the structure. Crews worked to finish extinguishing the fire, and ventilating the smoke out of the structure. The building was not occupied at the time of the fire. Engine 2, Rescue 3, Engine 6, Squad 6, and Car 3 were also on scene assisting. Due to the quick actions of the fire departments, the fire was under control within 15 minutes and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is undetermined.
