Emmett Street bridge work creates traffic shift starting Wednesday

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – Beginning tomorrow morning, Wednesday, June 2, city contractors will begin a preventative maintenance project on the Emmett Street Bridge, over the railroad between Maxwell Street and Raymond Road N.

During this work, a traffic shift will be needed to close the eastbound lanes, allowing for one lane of traffic in both directions.

The traffic shift will change as needed during the project to allow the contractor to complete work across the entire width of the bridge.

The work is scheduled to take place throughout the summer, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.  Emergency vehicles, pedestrians and local traffic will have access throughout the project.  Pedestrians and motorists should be aware of construction areas and follow posted signs.

This bridge project is one of three scheduled this summer. Stay tuned for information on bridge work on Hamblin Avenue and Michigan Avenue. We will release those details as we have them.

We appreciate everyone’s patience during this and all work.
