Public Works/Road Work

Posted on: July 9, 2021

[ARCHIVED] Wentworth Ave construction project starts July 12

Wentworth Avenue marked on city map

A reconstruction project on Wentworth Avenue will close the street to through traffic from Circle Drive to Foster Avenue.

Work begins Monday, July 12, and will continue through November. That includes water main and sanitary sewer replacements, road resurfacing, curbs and driveways.

The street will be closed to through traffic the entire time, which includes emergency vehicles that would drive through the area using this section of Wentworth. Neighbors who live there can access their homes during the project.

Work hours will be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Battle Creek Transit has removed the temporary bus stop at Wentworth and Beckman, anticipating this project. The stop was in place because of the repaving project on Columbia Avenue.

The 2W Columbia/Territorial temporary bus stops now are:

  • Outbound – LaVista Blvd near Lakeview Ave; Lakeview Ave behind Speedway; Beckman at Surby; LaVista at Circle Drive; on 24th before Iroquois; Iroquois and 28th; Iroquois and 31st; 31st Street before Columbia
  • Inbound – Iroquois near 28th; Iroquois near 24th; LaVista before Lakeview Ave; Lakeview Ave behind Speedway; Beckman at Surby; Territorial at Grand Blvd; Territorial at Riverside

We appreciate everyone’s patience for this and all infrastructure work.
