The deadline is fast approaching to appear on the Aug. 2 election ballot as a precinct delegate – the liaison between voters and the local political parties.
The deadline for those wishing to have their names placed on the ballot for precinct delegate is 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 3. An Affidavit of Identity must be filed with the Calhoun County Clerk’s Office, 315 W. Green St. in Marshall. This form is available in that office or online, www.co.calhoun.mi.us.
Precinct delegate candidates must be:
• A registered voter in that particular voting precinct.
• At least 18 years old by May 3.
Candidates may hold or seek any other public office in Michigan and may serve as a precinct inspector in any other precinct in the county, except the one in which he/she resides.
Candidates are not required to file petition signatures, and are not required to file campaign finance disclosure forms or compliance statements.
Each precinct will have at least one delegate, with the assigned number reflecting the number of voters in each precinct.
