Other information: The Battle Creek Fire Department responded to a reported oven fire at 8:57 am on Yuba Street. Car 3 was first on scene and made contact with the tenants who indicated the fire was out. Rescue 3 investigated and discovered a working fire in the kitchen of the second floor apartment. Engine 2 and Engine 5 arrived to provide additional aid in extinguishing the fire. Rescue 4, Truck 6, and Squad 6 were staged nearby for additional resources. The tenants were using the oven to heat the apartment and caught a pan of grease on fire that extended to the interior kitchen wall. The Fire Marshal determined the fire to be unintentional. Please do not use your oven to heat your house, it could start a fire or cause death.
