Other information: The Battle Creek Fire Department was dispatched to a possible structure fire at 63 Gardenia Street just after 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 4. The homeowner called 911, reported smoke, and left the property. Car 3 and LifeCare were first on scene and discovered a possible chimney fire with light smoke showing. Rescue 3 and Engine 5 made an interior attack and performed primary and secondary searches. Truck 6 and Squad 6 secured utilities and aided in ventilation, while Engine 2 made sure the property was protected and that the fire was completely extinguished. The Fire Marshal was called on scene to investigate and determined faulty wiring close to the chimney caused the fire.
