Battle Creek Police Department patch

Today, Battle Creek Police announced that the human remains found yesterday in the wooded lot off Waubascon Road are positively identified as Amber Griffin, the young woman who went missing in June 2020.
The Medical Examiner at the Western Michigan University School of Medicine identified Griffin, using medical records, and evidence of old injuries and medical procedures.
Police will not release any additional information at this time, pending the Medical Examiner's final autopsy report.

Previous information --

Battle Creek Police are investigating a possible location of Amber Griffin, reported missing in June 2020.

Her boyfriend, Derek Horton, agreed to take police to Griffin’s body, under a conditional plea agreement; there will be no deal in court if police do not find her. Horton was charged with open murder in the case, and his trial began this week.

As of this afternoon, police have not found Griffin. The investigation continues, and police will release more information when it becomes available.
