[ARCHIVED] Spring cleanup May 23-27 on neighbors' regular garbage days

This week is our annual spring cleanup week, May 23-27. Those who live in the City of Battle Creek limits can put lots of extra items at the curb on their regular garbage day. There is no extra cost.

Here are the details:

Acceptable items:
Household doors and windows; household furniture; mattresses and box springs (must be wrapped in plastic bags, available from the UPS Store); carpeting or brush (in four-foot bundles); toys; miscellaneous junk; packaging; broken glass (must be in plastic container for safety)

UNacceptable items:
Appliances with Freon (fridges, freezers, dehumidifiers); electronics; tires, auto parts, and engines; oil, gasoline, and antifreeze; batteries; light bulbs; chemicals, paints, solvents, pesticides, and other household hazardous waste; concrete; shingles; iron or steel bathtubs
