Battle Creek Police arrested one suspect in a shooting on Graves Avenue early this morning, and two men are in stable condition after treatment for gunshot wounds.
At about 4:45 a.m. today, patrol officers heard multiple gunshots in the areas of Graves, where an unauthorized street party was happening. BCPD officers and Calhoun County Sheriff’s deputies responded, and found about 100 people in the first block of Graves.
Police found a 33-year-old man there with a single gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Shortly after that, a 37-year-old man arrived at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital with a gunshot wound, and was also treated.
After speaking with witnesses at the scene on Graves Avenue, police understand the shooting was related to a fight earlier in the night at an organized party on Hubbard Street.
Police arrested a suspect in the shooting, and that person is in the Calhoun County Jail. Police will submit charges to the Calhoun County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
