UPDATE 12 p.m. 7/6 - Boil water advisory is now in effect. Full notice: http://www.battlecreekmi.gov//AlertCenter.aspx?AID=488
++++++
A leaking valve of a 16-inch Emmett Township water main requires emergency work on Wednesday that will shut off water to a section of homes and businesses in the Township.
The City of Battle Creek supplies water to the Emmett Township water system.
The water will be shut off starting at 7 a.m. Wednesday, July 6 along East Michigan Avenue, from Princeton Street east to just west of the Calhoun County Medical Care Facility, in the area of Kimball Pines County Park.
The medical care facility and water customers east will continue receiving water service, but could see some outages if the repair work takes longer than expected. We expect to complete the work by 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Regardless of the length of work, all customers on the Emmett Township water system along East Michigan from Princeton Street to FireKeepers Casino and Hotel/Ackerson Drive will be under a boil water advisory once work is complete. This is because the work requires us to shut off the 16-inch main. The advisory will include Pine Knoll Apartments and Lakeside Apartments.
We will update local media, the city website, and township officials when that goes into effect. We appreciate everyone’s patience while we complete this critical work to our water system.
