On Tuesday, Aug. 30, Goguac Lake will receive the last chemical weed treatment of the season, coordinated by the city and the state Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy.
The team applying the treatments will post signs in the treated areas of the lake, asking neighbors and visitors to stay off the water in those areas for 24 hours. This is so the treatments have time to reach the intended weed species in the water, and work effectively.
If a person does go into the lake while the treatment signs are posted, we recommend showering after leaving the lake. The treatments are tested, and determined to be safe for this use in the lake.
