[ARCHIVED] BCPD shares Halloween tips

Police giving candy to costumed children during a trunk or treat.

From our own Battle Creek Police Department, for everyone celebrating Halloween today!
We want everyone celebrating to have the best time, and to be safe while you enjoy. Please keep in mind these tips:

πŸŽƒ Remember that Battle Creek does not set trick-or-treat hours... have fun this evening at your discretion. Look for lights on at houses.
πŸŽƒ Need a safe place to go for candy fun? Join BCPD at our annual Trunk or Treat from 5-7 p.m. TODAY at Bailey Park, 1392 Capital Ave. NE. Can't wait to see many of you there!
πŸŽƒ When driving, especially in the neighborhoods, please slow down and watch for children out trick or treating.
πŸŽƒ We will have extra officers on patrol to respond to calls and monitor neighborhoods for traffic violations and other safety concerns.
πŸŽƒ Grownups, make sure your kiddos know to look for cars before crossing the street.
πŸŽƒ Have kids wear something that lights up or is reflective, so they are more easily seen in the dark.
πŸŽƒ Grownups, check your child's candy before they eat it. If it is open, discolored, or otherwise looks suspicious, throw it away.
