BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — City sewer crews will be working on the next step of an ongoing sewer project and working on two sewer main repairs that will cause temporary road closures beginning today, Tuesday, Nov. 8.

On Tuesday, Nov. 8, a portion of Watkins Road, from Helmer Road S. to Minges Road S., will be temporarily closed, as city sewer crews will be working on an ongoing sewer project. Work hours on this project will be from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. and emergency vehicles will not be permitted through the work area.

Specifically, this work will allow crews to verify the elevation of sewer casing under the Minges Brook and Watkins Road crossing, to aid in future design work to replace existing culverts with a box beam bridge.

The intersection of Piper Avenue and Radley Street will be temporarily closed Wednesday, Nov. 9, as city sewer crews work to repair a broken sewer main located in the intersection.

Work hours on this repair project will be from 7 a.m.-4 p.m. During work hours, no emergency vehicles will be able to get through the work area.

A temporary closure of Sherman Road, from N. Broad Street to Piper Avenue, will be in place Thursday, Nov. 10, as city sewer crews work on another broken sewer main along Sherman.

This repair project will have work hours of 7 a.m.-4 p.m. No emergency vehicles will be permitted through the work area, during the work period.
