City of Battle Creek buildings will be closed on Wednesday, Feb. 22, due to the impending ice storm.
According to the National Weather Service, a winter storm expected across the state could bring 0.25-0.5 inches of freezing rain to the Battle Creek area during the day tomorrow. We might also see gusty winds, and power outages from built-up ice.
In addition -
- Battle Creek Transit will run bus, Tele-Transit, and BCGo services as usual tomorrow. If the weather does deteriorate during the day, they will consider stopping services, and we will update that information on our messaging channels. Transit staff will contact Tele-Transit and BCGo riders if they need to cancel scheduled rides.
- Neighbors with Wednesday garbage/recycling pickup should have their items at the curb as usual, by 6 a.m. If Republic determines they need to stop service due to the weather tomorrow, we will share that information on our messaging channels.
- Essential emergency services and public works staff will respond as needed. Field Services will have salt trucks on the roads starting in the morning.
Calhoun County Government and Court offices also are closed on Wednesday, as well as area schools.
