BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Battle Creek Police are asking the community for assistance this morning in helping to locate a missing person.

Jacob Kenneth Weiderman, 34, left Bronson Battle Creek Hospital, 300 North Ave., at around 11 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21. He was last seen wearing a hospital gown and was on foot near the duck pond area in Irving Park across North Avenue from the hospital.

Weiderman is a white man who is 6’2” tall and about 150 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes.

Weiderman’s family shared that he is attracted to water, and it is possible he would take shelter in a wooded area.

Weiderman was receiving court-ordered mental health services. He reportedly experiences delusions, and may act on them. Police do not consider him a danger to the community.

Police officers attempted to locate Weiderman from their patrol vehicles and on foot, including a search around the hospital, and nearby Kellogg Community College, by drone, with no sign of him.

He was taken to First Step, a Summit Pointe mental health services facility, at about 4 a.m. Tuesday, and he walked away from the facility a short time later. Weiderman was located around 4 p.m. Tuesday near Bailey Park, and taken to Bronson Battle Creek.

Police continue to search for Weiderman. If you live in the area around Bronson Battle Creek Hospital or if you see anyone matching Weiderman’s description, please call Battle Creek Police at 269-781-0911, or call anonymously through Silent Observer at 269-964-3888.
